Welcome To Our Trip Across America!
This is where we share how we rode our tandem bicycle 4,640.34 miles in 81 days across America back in 1987. Yes, a tandem, a two-seater bicycle. I did the shifting, breaking, and steering in the front, and my wife Robin was pedaling and co-piloting in the back. Some people joke and say, "Wow, Robin just went along for the ride right?" No, Robin had to pedal just as many times as I pedaled, no 'independent coasting'. That's kind of how a marriage has to be right? It's hard work, there's hills, even mountains, but there's easy parts too. And oh, by the way, we are still very much happily married 23 plus years since the big trip!
Anyway, we went through many states, rode in all kinds of weather, and met many wonderful people all across this nation. We were left with a life time of interesting stories, a couple kids who we love with our whole heart, a trip that changed our life, and a desire to do it all over again.
