Love You Dad
Written by Allan Bremer, June 2006

I can try to say I love you – by giving you a hug
But every time that I do – it’s too short and not enough
I took a lot for granted – in my younger days
Time seemed to just roll by and then I went away

I never called you, you hardly called at all
I never did return to the house where I grew tall
I married – we had kids, then I moved from town to town
I never seemed to have enough to ever come around

I love you Dad – You know I always have
And because you hung around I’m so glad
oh – I Love you Dad

You worked hard at the factory, retired and moved down south
And even to this day I have never seen your house
I hope God gives me the chance to kiss you once again
But either way – it’s ok – cause love never ends

I love you Dad – You know I always have
And because you hung around I’m so glad
oh – I Love you Dad

You and Mom had rough times, that’s gotta be a fact
But you both worked it out and took care of all that
And now your times together are special in all ways
You need to be sure you make the most of all your days

Now lastly I want to say that since you are now free
And you don’t have to punch a clock at no factory
I realize that you did the best with what you had
And all I really want to say is: Thank you Dad

I love you Dad – You know I always have
And because you hung around I’m so glad
oh – I Love you Dad
